Tata Motors will launch the EV version of the Harrier, Safari, and Sierra SUVs over the next 12-15 months for the Indian market. Tata Motors is all set to launch three new electric SUVs equipped with a four-wheel drivetrain for the Indian market. The new Tata 4-wheel-drive electric SUVs to be launched in 2025-26 will include the Harrier EV model, Safari EV, and Sierra EV. The company has already announced an EV version of the four ICE automobiles, which include Tiago, Tigor, Punch, and Nexon.
Most recently, the latest EV launch by Tata Motors was the all-new Curvv, which was released with both EV and ICE models. Thus, it already offers the broadest EV selection of vehicles among its competitors in India. With the introduction of three additional electrified SUVs, Tata Motors will further transform this EV segment.
Tata Harrier EV
The Harrier model, which was showcased in Auto Expo 2023, will launch in March 2025 on the Indian market, according to the Mumbai-based local automaker. The Tata Harrier EV will be placed ahead of the Curvv EV in the portfolio of brands and will receive major styling changes in comparison to the standard Harrier SUV. The Acti.EV platform is the Punch EV. this e-SUV will feature both vehicle-to-load (V2L) along with the vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.
The Tata Harrier Electric Vehicle will have a 60-kWh battery, which is anticipated to give more than 500 miles on a single charge. We’ve learned that a motor powered by electricity is mounted on both (front as well as rear) axles with the 4×4 drive system. The Harrier electric vehicle is expected to cost about 25 lakh (ex-showroom) because it will compete with the Mahindra XUV.e8 within India.
2. Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors has announced the launch of the Sierra EV in FY 26 (April 2025 to March 20, 2026) within the Indian market. We are confident that the brand-new Tata Sierra EV is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2025, before the holiday season. This Sierra EV debuted in concept form a few years ago at Auto Expo 2020. Auto Expo 2020, while a pre-production model was showcased last year at Auto Expo 2023.
To be built on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform, the SUV will have styling elements reminiscent of the first Sierra SUV of the 90s, like the arch-shaped wheel arches that are square, the hood with a high-set design, and curved back side windows. The Tata Sierra EV is expected to include a 45 kWh/55 kWh battery pack, which has one electric motor, allowing an estimated 550 miles with just one charge. It also supports high-speed DC charging.
3. Tata Safari EV
Tata Motors will also launch the 7-seater Safari SUV that comes with an electrical 4×4 motor. Similar to the Harrier, the Safari will utilize its Gen 2 electric architecture. It’s scheduled to debut in the first quarter of 2026; following that, the Harrier EV and Sierra EV are available in the Indian market. Tata Safari EV could become Tata’s top electric SUV, with a price that starts at around 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Safari electric vehicle will follow the same design of the Harrier EV. The e-SUV will have a similar battery pack and range to the Harrier EV and Sierra EV. We anticipate more details to be revealed in the next few months.
